We designed and painted this exterior mural for the Roland Sands 2019 Moto Beach Classic. The install work started at Roland Sands Design in Los Alamitos (before they moved to Long Beach), then hauled it to Bolsa Chica State Beach the night before the event and finished the final details on site.

True to our name, we painted through the night and finished only a few hours before the event gates opened, as captured in the timelapse video below. It was an intense, high-energy session — the kind of deadline-driven mural work that keeps you fully locked in until the last stroke. After the final touches went down, a solid nap was definitely required.

We created this mural as part of the Architects of Inspiration art show that Roland Sands curated for the event. Drawing inspiration from Super Hooligan racing, the overall beach-moto culture of the day, and our love for classic monsters, we designed “Beach Boogie” to live outdoors and hold up under Southern California sun, salt air, and event traffic. We were excited to have some of our work shown just across the street from my home in Huntington Beach!

Years later the mural is still standing strong at the current Roland Sands Design location in Long Beach — a rare surviving piece of temporary event art that found a permanent home.
