The Outlier’s Guild Moto Show at The Container Yard

“Get Busy Dyin’ 2017”

Approximately 30′ × 10′

We designed and installed this motorcycle-themed mural for the first-ever Outlier’s Guild Moto Show at The Container Yard in 2017. The influences are obvious. We pulled the title from a favorite line in The Shawshank Redemption, and the wolf’s motorcycle is based directly on my own 1977 Yamaha TT500.

The Container Yard setting worked perfectly. Custom bikes sat in front of graffitied Jersey barriers, and the whole space carried the right energy. Seeing the finished wall in that environment felt rewarding after the long nights of painting.

We started with a detailed mock-up and printed a limited run of those designs. If the remaining prints surface, I’ll make them available again.

Work in Progress

We painted this mural in reverse order—detailed elements first, then the larger shapes. The method feels a bit like eating dessert before the main course, yet it allowed us to tailor the main elements of the design to fit the space effectively.

Lettering is always the toughest part. Objects in space can be fussed and be made to “look” right, but type needs a steady hand, clean lines, and most importantly, consistency. Goofed up letters stick out like a sore thumb.

This project sits alongside other motorcycle-related walls we’ve done, including the Roland Sands Designs piece for the Moto Beach Classic. Both murals share the same love of custom culture and classic graphic storytelling.
